Over the last week, it has been hard to miss the startling images of the Grenfell Tower fire in Kensington, an area in West London. Flames blazed out of the tall building filled with residential flats. The fire was so devastating that even days after it was extinguished.
A tragedy on this scale – the death toll is now over 75 and is predicted to keep rising – has led to plenty of finger pointing, but hopefully it can also trigger conversations and action toward increasing fire safety. It is not yet clear what caused by the fire, but it is always a good idea to guard against the most likely causes. For example, if your home has a fireplace, make sure to put up a mesh screen around it so that no sparks can leap out of the fireplace and ignite your carpet or furniture.
At Lawrence Sintered Metals, we offer wire mesh that can be used for this purpose. Learn more about our wire mesh.
